Author: RSRE   June 10, 2019

Who enjoys moving? No one. Moving is truly an exhausting task. But, is there a preferred time that buyers want to move? The answer to that question is… yes! Buyers and sellers alike prefer to move in the summer. Why? Because the weather is warmer and the days are longer.

Why you should move in the summer:

  1. The long days
  2. The selling season is great
  3. Garage sale season is in full force

The long days

When you are moving it makes it a tad bit easier when the weather is at a temperature you can enjoy since you will spend a lot of time transferring boxes from house to vehicle and vehicle to house. Also, when the days are longer you are able to move while the sun is still out which can be close to 10 PM depending on where you live.

The summer weather is usually great unless you’re part of the world is experiencing a rainy season which can really put a damper on things. While no time of the year is perfect by any means summer weather is about as close as you can get to a little perfection.

The selling season is great

Why is it easier to sell in the summer? Well, we already stated that the weather is a nice plus, but when the kids are out of school parents are more likely to move because it causes less of a disruption.

Garage sale season is in full force

Who doesn’t love stopping for a good yard sale? Depending on what community you live in, you may have a garage sale every year. This is a great time to get rid of some of your stuff, especially the bigger stuff that you may not want to move. If you are not a community that has a yard sale you may also want to consider putting your belongings on the Facebook Marketplace. Online garage sales are a new and exciting way to get rid of your stuff without sitting outside all day waiting for people to show up. Moving is a great time to get rid of your things! Keep in mind, donating to an individual or organization who could really use what you don’t need will make you feel better about the big move.
